Before anyone asks/bitches about episode 25 (and I know someone will), 25 is a recap ep of the first arc. It is not very good. It will be done before the end of the series, but the in the fight between being a completionist and actually being motivated, motivation won; so if you really want a 1996 arc recap, watch the first OVA.
Anyways, these 2 eps are the first 2 of the 1999 arc, as you can guess there’s a timeskip. And knowing the tone of this show you can probably guess what happened in the interim. Also it starts cribbing from Fist of the North Star, and even more dystopias.
Minor translation style choice notes: one of my goals for this arc was to use the word ‘quisling‘, because a plot point that comes up in a few episodes is on the difference between simple collaboration to survive and well, welcoming in the new alien overlords, betraying everything for power with the new regime. I managed to succeed about half way into the first episode of the arc, which is kinda depressing.

I just LOVE Fist of the North Star, so I’m sure that I’ll be able to enjoy this series (when it’s finished. The temptation for me to start watching is very strong ^.^0).
Concerning the recap ep, don’t feel too bad about it. Heck, Kikou Sennyo Rouran’s 27th ep was never subbed by anybody, so it’s not like anyone would miss recap eps (unless they’re actually creative and/or entertaining).

Layzner OAV Act I is a better recap of the first story arc anyway, and it’s already been subtitled by BlueFixer.
Thanks very much to all concerned for getting these episodes out. I’m a big fan of the Eiji/Anna story, so episode 26 is a personal favorite of mine.

You’re not alone on that front, believe me. I couldn’t tell you how tedious it can be to check up the various groups to see if they put out new eps sometimes (especially Nyoron).
But hey! I don’t mind too much. In the meantime this gives me a chance to check out all sorts of anime I’ve never seen, which helps make the wait more manageable. After all, I do understand that fansubbers of the old-school make it all worthwhile after going through their hurdles. I’m respecting them for that.
