I can’t belive it’s been a year since a guy by the name of “That UK Windom Loving Anonymous” started a thread in 4chan’s /m/ board about forming a fansub group for the old mecha shows that needed some subber love. We had a slowish start, first project was Mellowlink with an attempt at better source quality and cleaning up the old, dodgy Arctic Animation scripts. The first release from scratch was I think Raideen 13, in late March. sasword’s first release was Getter Robo in late April The first group release, as in not a solo translator project, was Layzner 9, in early May. Since then we’ve got a fair bit out, endured attacks by subninjas and had people go MIA.
I hope we manage another productive year without any major mishaps.

Fuck yeah π
January 29, 2010 at 6:11 am |
We hope to have other old mechas be subbed with the likes of Jeeg et. al. and thank you for all your efforts.
January 29, 2010 at 9:09 am |
We’ll see. Get us some more translators first.
January 29, 2010 at 10:33 am |
I think you’re a great group, the only in the web who has translated an epic classic like Layzner this far.
All that efforts can’t be useless, why don’t try to continue it with the help of other fansub groups like X Nebula, Max Quality Subs or others? I think I lot of people would be like to be, with you, the first group on earth to fully translate Ryousuke Takahashi’s masterpiece.
January 29, 2010 at 3:35 pm |
We’re already allied with them, since we semi share a forum. Main issue is translators, most of the groups are working near capacity. It’s also considered rude to just replace a translator without telling them.
January 29, 2010 at 3:45 pm |
Thank you guys for all your work!! Ganbare!!
January 29, 2010 at 4:30 pm |
Your dedication won’t be forgotten.
January 29, 2010 at 10:48 pm |
I love you guys, but instead of working on so many show, why not work on one show at a time? I would rather see a completed series than parts of unfinished shows, Please finish Layzner you are our only hope!
January 29, 2010 at 11:02 pm |
Translator’s preference. Layzner should still be being worked on. Just need sasword to show his face in the IRC channel after his dissaperance so me and Iriliane can get an update on it, or even just a draft script to work with.
January 30, 2010 at 4:27 am |
I vote for Layzner as well :P.
January 30, 2010 at 12:17 pm |
I vote for Layzner, but Daitarn3 is the most oppressed one I hope you finish Episode 23 quickly , and yes I was want to tell you about the idea work on one show until complete it like release 4 episodes of layzner in one month π
January 31, 2010 at 9:42 am |
I like to see them all gets completed… Layzner, Getta, getta G, great Mazinger! π btw I only just find out about mellowlink and i have re-watch them as well. Thanks for the effort in the past year.
January 31, 2010 at 10:55 am |
Just imagine if all you guys did was layzner, it would no doubt be fully completed in all its glory. Story wise it is vastly superior to Getter robo and Mazinger, also the animation is beautiful compared to thoses shows. If you set somthing up like a donation fund so you could pay the translators all to stick to one show then once it completed move on to the next I would gladly donate, im sure many others would aswell. I guess you can see im despreate for more layzner.Anyhow thanks for all your hard work, you guys rule.
January 31, 2010 at 11:09 pm |
Main issue is that pretty much all the other projects are handled solely by sasword there. Also Layzner is bloody hard to translate, the other shows are a fair bit more fun and less “goddamn computer technobabble make sense dammit”.
February 6, 2010 at 6:57 pm |
Oh why is Layzner hard too translate? Does the show use too much specific terms?
February 7, 2010 at 12:37 am |
It’s more it is prone to complicated sentences and the sort of language you’d find in a textbook or on a politics themed show. And that’s before you get to the AIs.
Ep 20 is about 2/3 of the way through translation checking at the moment.
February 1, 2010 at 8:14 am |
First off, congrats everyone for the first successful year! Secondly, thank you to the few who haven’t forgotten about me, haha. Sadly I can already look back at my Mellowlink release and kind of regret it, the encoding was pretty shitty… but it was my first time doing something like that, now I’ve already discovered better programs and tricks, it’s almost tempting to do a v2 release but with [a-classic] doing the series now it’d be a wasted effort.
Nonethless, thank you all for still considering it a mSubs effort. I really can’t do much, but I’m still around. Maybe I can get a seedbox sometime or something, lol.
There is certainly a lot of projects going on right now, but just think how amazing it’ll be when the chain reaction of a lot of those being finished hits, I’m sure a lot of it will work out that way and it’ll be great.
Thank you starseeker for being consistently around and somewhat of a lead around here, that’s nice to have. And it’s definitely great to see sasword around again. Hopefully this’ll be another great year of /m/ subbing!
February 1, 2010 at 12:41 pm |
I see you guys of M sub team are Excited in your work so how about at one time to complete translating L-gaim from Episode 33 shingetter team for some reason feel Desperation and stopped releasing:(
February 2, 2010 at 4:57 am |
L-gaim, now thats an awesome show, I wouldnt be able to sub all of mazinger because the story is so simple, like monster of the week over and over again, but shows like L-gaim and spt layzner are epic on every level, they are truley the builders of the golden age of anime. If you compare alot of the 80s mecha anime, story wise they are vastly superior to alot of the modren stuff. Super robot shows are fun, but like I said I couldnt stand the monster of the week cycle, seen one episode youve seen them all. Real robot stuff like votoms zeta gundam, L- gaim cant be beat, some of the stuff in the middle of real robots and super robots is pretty good though, zam bot and dougram for instance.
February 2, 2010 at 9:35 am |
i still secretly haven’t watched the first 8 episodes of layzner, to each their own. but by the way: [mSubs]_spt_layzner_-_20v0.55_(Script)(98625D88)
February 5, 2010 at 4:10 pm |
Took me long enough to saw this. Here’s for another year with hopefully more completed projects! π
And I still haven’t watched the first 8 episodes as well, though I really like what I see on 9-16.
February 5, 2010 at 10:29 pm |
Keep up the good work chaps! I thought noone was ever gonna go back and visit the wealth of goodness from way back when, ULTRA-THANKS!
February 6, 2010 at 11:59 am |
Congratulations on your first year. IΒ΄d prefer if you were a classic mahou shoujo fansub group, but a classic mecha fansub group isnΒ΄t that bad… Much better than being the nth group to sub some hot new show.
February 6, 2010 at 6:56 pm |
Another vote for Layzner as well.
LAYZNER! LAYZNER! LAYZNER!
Oh and congractulation to msubs for being a year old.
February 7, 2010 at 4:27 am |
Congratulations! Hope you guys can finish Layzner this year!
Speaking about Layzner, which raws are you guys using?γIs it this one http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/54969421/γ¬γ€γΊγγΌ?tab=summary ?
February 7, 2010 at 9:03 am |
No, we’re using a set of .avi raws from Share/Perfect Dark, I can’t remember which.
February 13, 2010 at 8:44 am |
Hey Starseeker, sasword is back around and asked me to time ep. 21!!! I shall do so tomorrow, or try to, I hope that’s okay?
February 13, 2010 at 11:36 am |
Yeah I know. Windom is timing ep 22 cos he’s bored. Ep 20 should be out soonish.
February 14, 2010 at 12:49 am |
Okee, that’s cool. I’m almost done with 21, I hope to have it to you within 2 hours or so. Anyways, after 22, how many episodes are there of Layzner? If you have the RAWs I’m willing to time the rest π
February 14, 2010 at 1:25 am |
There’s 39 episodes in total. Harrass Iriliane on IRC for the rest of the raws, I only got them up to 25.
February 14, 2010 at 1:58 am |
Okay, I’ll hop on IRC soon π Pardon my ignorance, but what was the address again? Anyways, Starseeker, I have the .ass for Episode 21 for you! π π π
sendspace: http://www.sendspace.com/file/f4wwze
Mediafire: http://www.mediafire.com/?tnjgr2mg4mz
My email address is bio_armor2026@yahoo.com, but apparently, this really really sucks because I haven’t gotten any notifications or emails about anything from anybody! Something must be wrong with it. It’s much easier to get a hold of me via LJ or something, just leave a comment at this entry:
http://gunlord.livejournal.com/787972.html
and I shall get back to you π π π
February 14, 2010 at 9:04 am |
The IRC’s #/m/subs at irc.rizon.net. Thanks for the .ass file.
February 14, 2010 at 10:34 am |
Okee, I shall go ask iriliane for the raws tomorrow π If there are any problems with my timan please contact me at that LJ entry, anonymous comments are enabled and stuff π Also, I tried to upload the .ass to MU but my Internet went poot and sendspace/mediafire worked better. Thats okay I hope. Again, if there’s anything else you need, just gimme a ring π π
February 18, 2010 at 4:29 am |
Swordseeker! Iriliane gave me some RAWs so I started timing them π π I just finished timing episode 23 (cause UK Windom is doing 22, right?) so here it is:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/deglxz
Sorry for taking so long, I’m a bit busy at the moment with grad school stuff and things like that ;_; I hope this is okay, again hit me up at http://gunlord.livejournal.com/787972.html if you need anything else from me π
February 18, 2010 at 10:33 am |
No need to rush mate, still waiting for sasword to reappear with episode 20.
February 18, 2010 at 10:53 am |
Okee…he should be around, I saw a comment from him on Nyaatorrents asking for more LoGH high-quality rips. Hopefully he’ll wander by here soon π So when episode 20 is released I will begin more timing then ^^
March 7, 2010 at 5:00 pm |
Thanks a million for the good work !!!
