Here we have a double bill of Tomino drama and shenanigans. In tonight’s show we have stupid plans, really random villain deaths, identity and pronoun minefields, people acting badly out of character and newtype ghosts. And we’re not even at the final episode yet.
Final episode will be out with a batch torrent of all episodes in a few days, including a load of v2s with tweaked scripts, forgotten font files added in etc.
If you want a taste of something related and slightly different, pop by AXSUS‘s blog as they just finished subbing Xabungle, another comedy 80s mecha show directed by Tomino.

Gonna be watching these again with proper subs. Some truly insane eps.

Yeah, I watched fansubs of this series on VHS back in the day, but I think a lot of the humor didn’t really come across in those earlier subtitles. Ametuchi has a real ear for dialogue, I find myself laughing out loud at some of the lines in this version.

I can’t believe that L-Gaim is going to be finished! It’s like a dream! Awesome job!

A double-dose? Sure didn’t see this coming! So close yet so far…:D
Keep it at it, guys! You’re almost at the finish line.

thanks, I count this now as a finished work, now I hope to see goshogun full subbed

Same here, for great justice! š

Thank you so much. I stopped watching this show about a year ago, waiting to watch it all in one big go. Thank you so much!!!!

Love what you’ve been doing. Any chance we’ll see the OVAs subbed? If I recall, ep 3 is an original story, while 1-2 are recap.
Either way, congrats on (near) finishing this project! Can’t wait for the batch!

Thanks for the L-Gaim, but is there any chance of seeing more Ginguiser?
September 16, 2012 at 9:47 pm |
Considering what ep 1 did to Starseeker’s mind, I would say none.
September 16, 2012 at 10:07 pm |
But then who will sub the greatest mecha anime ever?

*in the XT-002 voice*
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
For those of you who don’t play WoW, it’s this guy

Sorry man, didn’t realize it was so traumatic.

The cthulu meme is kinda justified. Also imagine trying to translate/time the 1st ep of Ginguiser on a very tight schedule, so some overnighters were involved. And shouting. It started funny and just turned into one of those projects you just hate but can’t back out of because you’re 80% done.
September 16, 2012 at 10:30 pm |
I understand, but even so, I greatly enjoyed the first episode, and would still someday hope to wake up and find a team has picked up translation on Ginguiser again.

Someone was trying based off the Italian dub but the project never got anywhere.
September 16, 2012 at 10:48 pm |
LOL, why didn’t I see that one coming? It’s a shame, too… I liked Ginguiser. (P.S.: I do play WOW, so I got the reference without watching the video on who i like to call “Robo-brat”)

If anything, if another 70s super robot has to be hand-picked, it’d probably be a better idea to sub one of the more neat ones like Daikengo (first robot with scuttles, not to mention its pilot having epic hair by the standards of the time), Danguard Ace (Leiji Matsumoto, nuff said) or Gordian (spiritual ancestor to Machine Robo).
September 17, 2012 at 12:07 pm |
Oh, and I neglected to mention that Daikengo is pretty much one of the only 70s robot series that DOESN’T take place on Earth, to my knowledge.
September 17, 2012 at 5:47 pm |
Daikengo is Mito Komon in space right?
September 17, 2012 at 6:45 pm |
Nah, that’d be Daiohja.
September 17, 2012 at 7:07 pm |
(Unless Daikengo really is another version of Mito Komon with giant robots. Couldn’t exactly tell from the premise in this one)
September 17, 2012 at 8:01 pm |
Nah you’re right I was thinking of Daiohja.
September 18, 2012 at 11:42 am |
Great work all round guys… but if anyone wants help with a Danguard Ace sub, I can be contacted: thirteen.worlds@ntlworld.com or hsfayle@sff.net. Ask for Helen… š If nothing else I have raws and I’ve watched the damned thing 4 times!
September 17, 2012 at 2:03 am |
(Although I AM aware that Daimos is being worked on…;-) )

If I had the Italian subtitles to Ginguiser… MAYBE I could put it through the *GASP* Google Translator treatment. Wierd, yes… but I wouldn’t mind seeing it subbed one day.
But anyway… I’m enjoying L-Gaim! I love it! I can’t wait for that magical moment when it’s completely subtitled!
